Colin qualified in London in January 1968 and joined Cedar Veterinary Group (CVG) in 1974 when it was called Searles and Darbishire and the premises was a small converted stable block. He became a partner in 1975, moving to solely small animal work in 2006. Prior to joining CVG Colin worked in a mixed practice in Chelmsford, Essex, he then moved to Watford and then to Cranleigh.
Having left the partnership in 2014, he still enjoys the clinical challenges two and a half days a week at the Alton and Four Marks branches and has a particular interest in skin disease and therapeutics.
In his spare time Colin’s hobbies include walking in the countryside with apparently inexhaustible dogs and butterfly photography, especially in Europe.
Justin qualified from Bristol Vet School in 1985 following a previous Microbiology degree and a PhD in London, researching tremorgenic mycotoxins. He joined CVG in the same year having carried out student placements at Cedar's Alresford surgery whilst qualifying. Justin became a partner of the practice in 1988.
Justin has treated all species, both large and small, including farm and equine patients. Following Cedar's status-change to 'small-animal and equine' Justin has been surgery-based, working 3 days a week at the Alton and Four Marks practices. He maintains an interest in all aspects of general medicine and surgery, keeping himself up-to-date through reading, on-line courses and regular technical conferences.
In his spare time Justin enjoys spending time with his family and keeping his dog Roxy and two cats, Spike and Tinkerbell fit and well. He also keeps fit mountain-biking on the South Downs, enjoys hill walking and tries to avoid hip injuries on his snowboard.
Justin is particularly proud of his (compact) Piaggio Cedar Veterinary Group; van which may be spotted from time-to-time at or near the Alton surgery.
Martin qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1986 from Liverpool. He joined Cedar Veterinary Group in 1988 working in mixed practice and became a partner of the practice in 1993. Martin now focusses on small animal care and has an active interest in small animal medicine and surgery.
In his spare time Martin likes to spend time with his family and is a frequent visitor to the gym, runs, enjoys walking/being outdoors, seeing live music and suffering the ups and downs of being a Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
Martin has recently become the proud owner of a Labrador puppy called Hector!
Charlie qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Liverpool University in 2004. He joined CVG in 2004 and became a partner of the practice in 2010. Charlie leads our Equine work and has a particular interest in equine dentistry.
Charlie spend his spare time with his wife and two young children. He is also a keen cyclist and spends as much time as he can out on his road bike.
James joined CVG in September 2013 as a Veterinary Surgeon at our Alton branch. James graduated from Liverpool University in 2004 and prior to working at CVG he spent 3 years working in Northern Ireland and 6 years in Wales, both in mixed animal practice. James is interested in small animal surgery and orthopaedics and he was recently awarded an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner (AVP) certificate in small animal surgery in 2017.
In his spare time James enjoys playing most sports; especially cycling, football and squash.
Chris joined CVG in January 2018 as a Veterinary Surgeon based at our Alton branch. He qualified in 2012 from Liverpool University and prior to working at CVG he worked in practices in Southampton, Devon and Cornwall. Chris has an interest in surgery and is a qualified Animal Acupuncturist.
In his spare time Chris can be found skiing, surfing and painting. Keep an eye out for examples of Chris’s art work at our Alton surgery!
Katie Hobhouse joined CVG in September 2017 as a Veterinary Surgeon based at our Alton branch. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 and joined Cedar Vets shortly after. Katie enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, particularly getting to know our patients and their owners.
When Katie is not at work, she can often be found in her kitchen trying out new recipes, or exploring the local countryside on foot or horseback!
Eulalie joined CVG in September 2014 as a Veterinary Surgeon at our Alton and Four Marks branches. She qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Ghent University, Belgium in 2006 and prior to joining CVG Eulalie worked in mixed practice in Northern Ireland and Wales. She is interested in first opinion small animal practice and dental surgery.
In her spare time Eulalie plays rugby for Basingstoke Ladies.
Keith joined CVG in October 2017 as a Veterinary Surgeon at our Alton and Alresford branches after spending the summer of 2017 as a Locum Vet with the practice. Keith qualified in 2011 and previously worked at Ystwyth Vets Aberystwyth Wales, Westpoint Vets St. Bridgets Farm, Itchen Abbas and Shield Veterinary Centre Bishops Waltham, Hampshire. Keith particularly enjoys small animal internal medicine, reproduction and surgery and all aspects of Equine first opinion work; especially internal medicine and lameness.
In his spare time Keith enjoys running, cycling, water sports and travelling at any opportunity!
Hannah Joined CVG in June 2018 as a Veterinary Surgeon based at our Alton branch. She qualified in 2016 from the University of Liverpool. Prior to joining CVG Hannah worked at a small animal veterinary practice in Petersfield.
In her spare time Hannah enjoys walking, the outdoors, baking, and owns a family of pet guinea pigs.
Amy qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Edinburgh in 2012. Following graduation, Amy worked in Australia in general equine practice and returned to the UK to complete an equine internship at a referral hospital for 18 months working alongside specialists in equine surgery and medicine. Before returning home to Hampshire she also worked in West Sussex and Cornwall. Amy enjoys all aspects of equine work, especially poor performance, lameness investigations, geriatric care, wound management and stud work. She is undertaking a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice.
Outside of work Amy can be found Kite-surfing on the South Coast but also enjoys riding, cycling and running with her dog.
Laura joined CVG in August 2009 and Qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2012. Laura is based at our Alton branch and is our Head Nurse. She enjoys all aspects of working in a small animal practice and has a keen interest in diagnostic imaging.
In her spare time Laura plays the piano and guitar and enjoys many outdoor activities including skiing and surfing.
Katherine qualified from Sparsholt College in 2013 with a foundation degree in Veterinary Nursing. She really enjoys the surgical aspect of nursing and is hoping to develop her skills in this area. Outside of work she can be found halter training her two Dexter cows Jaffa and Jingle.
Amy started working at the Cedar Veterinary Group in January 2013. She has now finished her training and is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. She especially enjoys nurse clinics and theatre nursing and wants to develop her skills in these areas. Outside of work she enjoys riding her horses and can often be found out walking her Jack Russell, Henry. Amy's other passion is cycling; she and her partner Ben like to go for long rides at the weekends.
Annie joined CVG in September 2018 as a Qualified Veterinary Nurse at our Alton branch after qualifying in the summer of 2018 from Middlesex University. Prior to working at CVG she was in training at private practice in London. Annie is particularly interested in dealing with exotic animals, wildlife and nursing clinics.
In her spare time Annie likes art and drawing and also enjoys playing hockey, riding horses and running up Welsh mountains!
Alice joined CVG in June 2018 as a Veterinary Nurse at our Alton branch after qualifying from Hartpury College in 2018. Alice enjoys all areas of nursing and has a special interest in surgery.
Outside of work Alice enjoys spending time with friends and family and is an enthusiastic London Irish rugby supporter.
Amy Burr joined CVG in November 2014 as an Animal Nursing Assistant at our Alton branch and started her training with us as a Student Veterinary Nurse in September 2016. Amy previously worked as an Animal Care Assistant in the surgical department of Bristol Veterinary School and is particularly interested in anaesthesia.
In her spare time Amy enjoys playing rugby and hiking, she also lived in California for a year where she volunteered in an animal rescue centre.
Fiona joined CVG in October 2016 as an Animal Nursing Assistant at our Alton branch, after spending 3 years with the practice on work experience. Fiona began her training with us as a Student Veterinary Nurse in September 2017 and prior to joining CVG she worked in IT recruitment for nearly 15 years and also holds a College of Animal Welfare City and Guilds Level 2 in Animal Management.
In her spare time Fiona enjoys playing sports with her children like hockey, tennis and horse riding and walking her German Pointer Rudy.
Katie joined CVG in November 2016 at our Alton branch, initially as an apprentice and member of our reception team. In January 2018 Katie moved to our nursing team as an Animal Nursing Assistant and began her training with us as a Student Veterinary Nurse in April 2018. Prior to working at CVG Katie was a personal trainer. She is particularly interested in nursing and assisting with procedures for exotic animals including ducks and snakes.
In her spare time Katie is interested in tattoos and dinosaurs and has a number of dinosaur tattoos herself; combining both her interests!
Megan is our Head Receptionist for the Alton and Four Marks Practices and ensures that the reception teams run smoothly. Megan joined the practice as an apprentice in 2015 after completing a Diploma in Equine Management at Sparsholt College, whilst studying at Sparsholt, Megan also worked at the Liphook Equine Hospital as a weekend groom.
Megan is a keen horse rider and enjoys competing in her spare time.
Sally joined CVG in 1991 and has carried out a variety of roles within the practice. Prior to joining CVG she worked for 12 years at a veterinary practice in Haslemere. Sally now works as our Accounts Manager for all three branches.
In her spare time Sally is the proud owner of 2 Spanish Water Dogs and also enjoys Paddle Boarding and cycling. More recently she has moved to Hayling Island and is enjoying the beach life.
Abi joined the Cedar Veterinary Group in 1996 and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2007. Abi has carried out a range of roles as a receptionist and a nurse. Currently Abi manages our clinical supplies and assists with equine dentistry and endoscopy and is based at our Alton branch.
In her spare time Abi spends time with her two horses and three border terriers.
Tina joined CVG in 1987 as a Veterinary Nurse after working at Amery Farm Veterinary Hospital in Alton. For the past 18 years Tina has worked as a receptionist at our Alton branch and has also gained a diploma in dog behaviour and training. Outside of work Tina enjoys photography, walking her dogs and spending time with her family.
Diana joined the Cedar reception team in November 2009. She loves seeing all the animals and owners we meet each day. She has a particular interest in dogs, especially the large and giant breeds. Diana shares her home with her two New Foundlands.
Sarah joined CVG in October 2017 as a Receptionist in our Alton branch. Prior to joining CVG Sarah worked at Montys Bistro in Alton where she managed the restaurant and cooked part time as a Chef; also appearing on TV in Jamie & Jimmy's Friday Night Feast which aired in January 2018.
In her spare time Sarah plays netball for the Ants netball club in the Basingstoke league and is a gin enthusiast!
Shelley joined CVG in April 2018 working as a Receptionist in our Alton branch. Living in Alton for 48 years; she knows many of our lovely clients.
Prior to joining CVG Shelley has had a variety of jobs; most recently she managed an online job board for 15 years and has also worked as a Receptionist in a local doctor’s surgery and the Alton sports centre.
Shelley enjoys reading; especially crime novels and owns two yappy Jack Russell's called Derek and Rodney.
Lin joined the Alton Reception team in 2017. Prior to joining CVG Lin worked in Customer Services in the Plastics Industry. She also provides the ‘Out of Hours’ telephone duties for the Practice, which she has done since 1975. Lin is also a Qualified Veterinary Nurse.
In her spare time Lin enjoys walking and in particular taking Teazel, her registered ‘Pets as Therapy’ wire haired Dachshund, to care homes to visit the elderly.
